Not as good as the first two in the series. This one was a bit too over-the-top silly.

Interesting
While like the others this book has its slow moments, it holds your attention to want to keep reading. It took me a little longer to get through this one because it did seem to be falling under the same formula as the previous, just with a fairy godmother added, but by the end I want to continue on again because once again the author shocked me. While some of the things about it seem very "young" written the author has a familiar and friendly voice that makes you want to keep coming back

Honestly this one isn't my favorite of this series, but I am doing a full reread so I didn't want to skip it. Maybe it is because I have been listening to the audiobooks practically back to back, but this series could have been a good tv show with everything in these 3 books only happening between September to January of the next year. A lot happens in the book, but the big conflict doesn't appear until near the very end.
Katie and Owen are finally together but we really don't get to enjoy their dates or anything because mishaps keep happening. Katie receives a fairy godmother, with no real explanation, who keeps invading on her life in the worst possible ways. It reminds me a bit of the Unfairy godmother series, or godmothered, where the fairy is kind of hair brained and doesn't have a firm grasp on what is really needed, if anything, in the situation.
I feel like it could have been handled a bit better, and she seemed like a funny character I kind of wish she had been in more of the book even if it is kind of a trope, but I suppose that her being useful wouldn't have been interesting. She does dispense sage advice to pretty much everyone else but Katie, which is kind of weird. What could have made that interesting is that maybe fairy godmothers are helpful to everyone but the person they are trying to help and it is kind of cursed to be that way? And that is why not many want to do it, like the fairies at MSI? Just a thought.
And things from a previous book are brought up! I love that things that seem random at the moment are coming back into play. An off-hand thing about Philip, one of the kissing frogs from the first book, losing his family business comes back into play as he enlists Katie's help to get his company back. It doesn't really happen in this book but I feel like it will come into play later on in the series. Idris is opening a store and placing ads everywhere. It is all really interesting and feels like there is a more expansive universe that we have barely begun to touch on. That's ok though because there are still 6 more books to explore.
I did like it for the fact that it expands the universe more. Communication is still a big problem in the book though. Can't wait to find out more

Kate gains a fairy godmother, who seems determined to mess up Kate's life. Another fun story, with great plot, but the romantic in me hated the ending. 111207

I really enjoy these Harry Potteresque books for adults. There is the angsty romance between Katie and Owen all the while evil magicians plot to take down the magical company they work for. In this book, there is an interfering fairy godmother who does more to destroy the relationship between Katie and Owen rather than bringing them together. Looking forward to book four!
