I can't take a book that deals with anthropology, but uses the word "primitive" to describe some societies, seriously. Also, it's just not very well written and doesn't seem rigorous enough.

I don’t read non-fiction so I have find out myself what is true and what isn’t. I just read a whole chapter on the “potentially true” story of Sweeney Todd when we know all too well that it was originally a Penny Dreadful story and that’s just the tip of the ice berg. Sensationalised bs. Read “Cannibalism - A Perfectly Natural History” instead. More facts and far more entertaining.
