I haven’t enjoyed a mystery thriller so much since Sharon Bolton’s “Now You See Me”. It took me one night to completely devour the story! The audio book narrators were so good, I listened to the whole book, despite desperately wanting to rush through pages with my eyes to get the answers. One of my favourite detective POVs, I simply loved this book! I feel like it would be a perfect reread for the Halloween season and rainy days. 50000 stars!

I listened to this one (often while running!) so I may have missed a few things here or there, but I found myself mentally cycling through suspects thinking, "oh, okay, it must be X. No wait, okay, Y. Hmm - Z?" and I think at one point, each of the characters felt like a potential murderer! I think I did suspect the true murderer before the end, but also dismissed the thought, so that when they were revealed, it did feel a little surprising (in a good way)!

This was a serious ‘whaaaaat the fuck is happening’ read, right to the end, kept me on the edge of the seat!

This thriller is unlike any other I have read this year. Told from multiple perspectives, never knowing if you are being lied to or not, and full of red herrings and misdirections: Feeney has crafted a truly engaging thriller. Nothing is ever as it seems, and Feeney drops tiny hints and clues all over the story, making you think you know what’s going on, when you definitely don’t. This novels biggest strength is the way that it interacts with the reader through the prose and narrative.

That being said, I didn’t find myself enjoying the time I had with this book. It was fun to try to guess what was going on, but every character in this novel spends the majority of their time miserable, and I found that to be a bit off putting. The two main perspectives are both hurt and grieving, and so much of that pours off the page, that it is hard to have a “good time” reading this book.

In addition to that, some truly horrifying and awful things happen in this book. Some passages were truly sickening to read, and while I enjoy a good thrill, I don’t enjoy feeling disgusted- and I definitely was multiple times in this book.

That being said, if you can handle some heavy material and are looking for a book to keep you on the edge of your seat with a head full of questions, this might be the book for you.

Loved this in audiobook format. The voice for the killer was definitely eerie. I had a fun time with this one. I could kind of tell where things were going but I wasn't certain so it was a fun journey until the end. I felt like you couldn't trust anyone. I liked that everyone was terrible 😆

I think its just me.. I would have DNF'd if it wasn't a book club book. Not sure what it was about it but I couldn't get into it. I really didn't care about what was happening.
