This book was so creepy and atmospheric, I absolutely loved it. This is definitely the best story of the series so far, and the twist at the end topped it all.
The setting of the story, the woods, were absolutely terrifying, and I loved that the ending only answered some of the questions, so a lot of the creepy occurrences in those woods are left to the imaginationā€¦
While the book had excellent horror elements, it also dealt with some topical issues, such as domestic abuse and controlling relationships. I thought this was done really well and sensitively, it really showed how things like this can be hidden so well and you should never assume.
The ending was my favourite part. The whole way through the book, I knew there was something more to the story, but it was like a faint idea that wasnā€™t fully formed. When everything came together with the final revelation, I was shocked. It was a brilliant twist.
I donā€™t know if the next book will top this one, but Iā€™m excited to read the rest of the seriesā€¦.

I feel this book is helped in that it is short. The podcast format is great in concept, but the repetitive ā€œintrosā€ to each episode can really slow the pace down.Ā

I know is only 8th of January, but right now I can assure you this book will be on my top ten next year, is a must read!
If youā€™ve been following my blog for a while, youā€™ve already read the reviews of the two previous books of this series, Six Stories, all of them are a great read. But this one is my favourite: hunting, real and twisted, any book loverā€™s dream book!
The Six Stories series is a book told like a podcast, every time I read one of the books I can listen to the voice of Scott King on my mind, dark and hunted telling the cases he is covering and sharing with us. He tries not to be involved in the case, simply transmitting opinions and facts and being as objective as possible to make the ā€œlistenerā€ to take their own thoughts and decisions without influencing them. The case always have six parts, each one of them darker than the previous one while the 6th part is the culmination with a twisted ending that will hunt the ā€œlistenerā€ for a while.
I am not sure if I am objective as a reviewer on this book, because I loved all the previous books so much that I am always recommending them to anyone who asks for an interesting read on their reading list. But I loved ā€œThe Changelingā€, as always it has a horror part, based on folklore and true stories, making the read hunting and original. Then, thereā€™s the case that even if it has a supernatural part, the ā€œsolutionā€ is always human, I am sure that you are aware that humans are more dangerous than animals!
This case will be more personal for Scott; after receiving a strange letter, he will not be able to stay away from the case and will have nightmares and seeing ghosts involved on the caseā€¦ Will this be the last podcast we will enjoy from Scott? I really hope not, I canā€™t wait to ā€œlistenā€ his next case!
This case is not for light-hearted readers, it involves haunting sounds, witches and some parenting problems that I am sure will surprise every reader at the twisted ending. But if you love a good book, well written and addictive, donā€™t doubt that this it has to be your next read.
