i love பெருமாள் முருகன் and i wanted to love this book. but it was so underwhelming.
you never have a chance to believe in the love story of Kaali and Ponna - there is none. you never have a chance to ponder over what implications the chariot night has for their marriage -it is implied that he unalives himself . there is something to be said for the book dealing with the emphasis that society places on fertility - and for that this is a great social commentary. but ugh.

The synopsis was strong but the execution was not.
What they did not include in the description (unless seen online) is that this is a 3 part story. There is no resolution or ending. The first book just got started. The main character feels cheated? Well I feel cheated that my time was wasted.
I wanted to give this the benefit of the doubt due to cultural differences, but this book did not provide anything. I felt that it used a lot of words that I had to look up but could’ve been left out. They wrote 300 pages just about setting the stage, but you would have to read book 2 or 3 for the ending. Not fun:(
