Reviews with content warning for Colonisation - King of Battle & Blood

Fun, quick and some sexy moments, but overall not my jam. I was having continuity issues between scenes where it became confusing how we jumped from one point to the other. The audio narrator was fine, but did have some cringe moments. Didn’t really care about the characters, and the plot (which is typically more important to me) was very secondary and didn’t have much substance to it.

Isolde de Lara's world is ravaged by vampires. When the vampire king, Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, asks for her hand in marriage, her father immediately rejects it. However, Isolde knows this is the best decision for her people. As she travels to the vampire's kingdom, she finds herself strangely drawn to him.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Enemies to lovers perfection. I love the fact that Isolde is not afraid to stand up for herself, shes such a badass.

I must admit, the writing isn't the best, but goddam is it fun. I was able to lose myself in this story and read it in one sitting. Also, Adrian is so hot!!! Hes the -hurt her and ill kill you- type of guy.
I also really enjoyed the side character and their relationships, so cute.
So sexy and fun!

What can I say? I’m a sucker for sexy vampires and witches, especially when they don’t sparkle. Scarlett St.Clair is a master at catching ones attention and holding it in a firm grip. While simple, the magic and political systems are truly immersive. I do think Killian needs an ass whooping though, courtesy of Issi.

I honestly think this one is spicier than the others I’ve read by this author. I loved the love story. It was enemies to lovers but in the best way. I loved the protagonist. I enjoy how she learns and grows as the novel progresses to become a more developed, understanding person - which is how I think we should all live. There was a bit of predictability in the plot and there were a few grammatical issues that led me to a four star rating as opposed to a five star rating.
