very solid ya fantasy. i really enjoyed the prison setting with her being the healer. i liked the first two twists as they were foreshadowed well and made sense to the plot. i was a little annoyed and taken aback by the last twist though as it felt entirely out of left field. i just don’t understand how if we were in her head the whole time we were given no clues to the fact that

tilda is kivas mother? like i thought maybe at first that this was going to be the case but as time went on and there was nothing pointing to this other than a feeling that this may be the case i assumed no. but it was.

like i don’t mind it makes sense for their to be a plot for the rest of the trilogy it just was out of left field and at the same time it’s a generic twist. other than that it’s a decent book!
