Something just didn’t work for me with this book idk.

I didn’t feel like Tucker and Grace had a super strong relationship or super deep one. Also they keep mentioning a family curse for Grace so was like is this fantasy or contemporary? What’s happening ?

It was very weird. I didn’t love this and she went from extreme hate to love . I don’t know , this was so mediocre for me. No substance.

Grace has been used to hearing about the Buchanan curse. However when she meets Tucker she is attracted to him but instead of love at first sight she experiences hate at first sight.

It doesn’t help that Tucker has a girlfriend so she can’t go there. Of course in a small town you can’t get away from each other and feelings turn to love. No cheating.

This is another 5 star bake in the Donner Bakery series. Grace did not believe in the Buchanan curse of love at first sight. Which is good because she will learn that is it very different for only women born into the family for 5 generations. Tucker Haywood is looking for a spark in his life, he has always done what is expected and it is just not enough anymore. This is a story of two people find out who they are and take risks to be happy. Grace and Tucker must learn to trust themselves and each other to find their happy ever after. Add in the magic that is Green Valley and you have an amazing story. I cant wait to read what happens next for the Buchanan clan!

Bit of a twist to the (insta-)love curse in this one - it starts with insta-hate. No rhyme or reason to it, suspend disbeliefs and trust the love curse.
I liked it!

It was so nice being back in this world. The Love at First Sight series has been a success for me and I enjoyed being back in Green Valley - it's a rich small town setting with a host of great supporting characters. While Grace is new to town, and skeptical of the Buchanan family love curse, I thought how the 'curse'/instant reaction to Tucker were fun and you could immediately feel something between the two. I do think the story was a touch too fast paced for me to really get the development I wanted between the two of them, but I still had a good time.

While this book is technically 5th in the official series, it's the second written by Karla Sorensen as we revisit the Buchanan Family Curse! Grace Buchanan soon discovers that the Buchanan Family Curse is real when she moves from California to Green Valley, TN - but there is a slight problem. The curse doesn't work on her the way that it did for the other Buchanans. Grace takes one look at Tucker Hayward and inexplicably HATES him! It's hilarious since she knows that it's irrational and she's acting like a crazy person. There's a very fated mates kind of vibe going on sans the paranormal element, but it just works for me. Tucker is experiencing this plateau in his life - not being fulfilled and just going with what's expected of him, but Grace is one of the few people who notices. Love this family and can't wait for the next one which is heavily teased at the end!

Batter of Wits is the fifth book in the Donner Bakery series and another addition to the Smartypants Romance novels.

This is another story of the Buchanan curse and the effects it had on Grace.

Grace is trying to find a place to fit in Green Valley. She’s having some difficulties trying to adapt to small town life. She’s strong and sassy and just dances to beat of her own drum.

Tucker is a charming and handsome southern gentleman with issues of his own. He had no idea while picking up a stranger off the road that she would turn his life upside down.

Batter of Wits had me laughing and swooning. Heartfelt with just a smidge of angst. A story of finding your path and fighting for what you want.

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book*

Green Valley really feels like my fictional home. Honestly, whether it’s Penny Reid’s books or the SmartyPants romance books, I will forever be drawn to these books. I can’t believe I missed the release of all these new books, but you better believe I’m going to be binge reading them to make up for it. This was honestly such a fun, smile-inducing romance. Yes, it was quite insta-lovey and a bit reachable with the love curse business, BUUUT I don’t really care. The fun and love that I got from this book made it all up for me. The banter, the chemistry, the honesty, it was all there.
I also really love how they’ve really extended the world and include cameos from characters of the other SmartyPants books, rather than just the Winston brothers. I feel like we’re creating a whole world here and I love it. Even if this wasn’t my favourite read of the year, I enjoyed every minute of it and am going to continue binging these books

Love curse or blessing?

This was so cute!!! I absolutely loved Grace’s hate to love story with Tucker. I love all the different ways Karla Sorensen can take the Buchanan Love Curse (or should we be calling it a blessing?) and create completely different stories with it! I can’t wait to read Grady’s story.

PSA This book saved me from the worst Book Slump EVER!
