Raine Edmunds escapes to New Mexico after divorcing her cheater of an ex-husband. There, on a peaceful ranch with friends, she finds love again. When opportunity calls her back to her big-city life as a model, her decision not to go back challenges her to merge the two worlds of herself and her man. They succeed, but the odds don't end there.

And that's the scope of it. Not bad. The plot is simple, but it fits the short length and the love story is sweet and endearing.

I have only read two of her books so far, but Jewel Adams seems to have an affinity for tall, handsome, muscular men as romantic leads. I know that type is pretty mcuh a staple of adult romances, but personally, I'm more attracted to brains than muscles. Well. To each her own.

Unfortunately the sweetness and the endearing-ness isn't enough to satisfy me. As I've said before, half of the romance is invested in the characters, so if your characters are boring and derivative, their love story will be much the same.
I also get tired of the cheesy, flowery, "Oh, I love you more than anything in my entire lonely life!" and "You fill me with such ecstasy and passion like I've never felt before!" and "I think I'd die without you!" and finally the "You'll own my body, heart and soul forever and I can't wait until you're all mine!" not to mention a couple hundred more "I love you"s.
(It's not that I'm not romantic. I am. I'm just not romantic in the starry-eyed, idealistic, be-with-you-forever sense. I'm practical. I don't believe in soulmates; I believe in someone with flaws and quirks and faults who you might meet someday, who will love you for you despite your flaws and faults, and against any odds.)

All in all, I think I've decided that straightforward romances are not my thing.
