I read this with my six year old, and we loved it! It is whimsical and sweet and charming. It is also episodic which made it a bit easier to pick up and read a couple chapters, then put down again. My daughter even clapped at the end. :)

Oh how I wish I read this growing up. A delight for the imagination!

"Come on girls," said Joe, AGAIN.

The creativity, imagination and humour (yes really - the saucepot man literally had me laughing out loud) is cute, and really opens it up to be beloved by children.
AS AN ADULT reader however, there are many MANY flaws

An overly generous 6.5 /10

Gotta fall asleep somehow, shout-out to the bitches that post bootlegged audiobooks on YouTube, I love y’all! Why was the mum ok with them hanging out with a guy covered in pans? Moon face is cool in the descriptions but any picture of him makes him look so busted he is honestly scary. Lame gender roles enforcement. Dame Washalot needs to be reported to the landlord/HOA immediately!!!

As a child I absolutely adored Enid Blyton but had never read the enchanted forest books! Whilst the adventures predictable and repetitive, they are brilliant for children and I throughly enjoyed reading it!

Rereading this book after almost 10 years!

This was the book that got me into reading as an hobby!

Oh, how I loved the adventures Joe, Beth and Frannie had and wished I lived near an Enchanted Wood too.

I got this book as a gift from my mom's cousin. I didn't pick it up for almost a year, but once I started reading it I just couldn't stop. I remember having vivid dreams about the Enchanted Wood after reading it!

This reread made me completely nostalgic and reminded me of how much I loved or rather still love Enid Blyton's books.

I still remember the feeling I had after reading this book, I loved this book so much that I hugged it to sleep. Well, not much has changed after reading this 10 years later cause I still wanna hug it to sleep!

Wisha-wisha-wisha!

The book achieves what it sets out to do: an escapism from reality and being a combination of childhood fantasies. I read this book as a child and it left such a positive impression that I re-read it when I was a teenager and now as an adult.
The book is imaginative and I love the concept of the tree with the different lands that appear at the top. I used to imagine what life would be like living in the tree with all the other magical characters. Its a great bedtime story to wind down to and it will always be one of my favourites.

However, the book plot is arguably quite "safe"- even when it gets a bit dicey, everything always works out for the characters. I've seen other reviews identify this as well. I think its a valid criticism as part of growing up is understanding that your actions have consequences and not everything works out in your favour. Childhood books are an excellent way to teach children this, so it would have been good to see some of this in the novel. This also means the characters don't develop and stay the same throughout.
I also find this cover of this book quite creepy, I'm glad its been changed since! I own this book with an updated version.

I would recommend this book. My rating is very high because of my nostalgia, I couldn't give it less than 5 stars despite its plot faults.
