This is a magical story about three young siblings who move next to a magical wood, alive with pixies, elves, fairies and The Magic Faraway Tree. Once at the top of the giant tree the children discover different lands that appear and disappear at will. Each one with it's own delights and sorrows.
Wonderfully whimsical and adventurous with innocent friendship, talking animals and mild peril, which Enid Blyton wrote beautifully.

no rating // A friend of mine had loaned me her copy of this small children’s classic that was her favorite book as a child. It was cute and whimsical overall. It is no Lemony Snicket or Diana Wynn Jones but it certainly filled the bleak emptiness of the week enough :)
An aspect I found particularly interesting about this book was the controversy surrounding the author and the « political correctness » of certain names and aspects. I think there is much to be said in this discussion and it raises some prevalent questions.

I remember having this book read to me as a child by my teacher at school. I loved it then and rereading it as an adult helped me remember the joy and love of the story.
The adventures Jo, Bessie and Fannie had and the creatures they met were wonderful to revisit and i'm going to read the rest of the trillogy again for sure.

Very fun book. I read it out loud to my kids, and there were lots of spots that the words didn’t flow well for me, but we all enjoyed it anyway.
