Decent war story, reasonably well-written. It suffers from a lack of focus early on, a main character who is a bit oblivious, and a tendency to kill characters offscreen.

Still, an entertaining book that does something different with the Star Wars universe. Worth reading.

I didn't expect to enjoy this nearly as much as I did. A book based on a game that didn't have a story mode, grounded in military action (which is not typically up my alley), with interesting interwoven stories of characters from many perspectives. It almost makes me appreciate that I've been sick this week, which gave me the opportunity to finish the whole book.

this is an honest to god war story . In a world where legitimate war stories are uncommon. This is not a story of a jedi gallavanting across the galaxy saving everyone from certain death, this is a story of the real face of thr Rebellion. The frontline soldiers of twilight company , all very real people. Real soldiers. It brings the Rebellion into a new light and shows the war in a very new way.

I love reading about what else is going on outside of the skywalkers and co. To see what other parts of the rebellion are doing and who else the empire is after. This book does just that and is fast paced and action filled for a great Star Wars adventure.

So, for a book based on a fairly shallow but fun video game, this was a surprising book for me. It's not super heavy on Star Wars "lore" per se, and I would consider it a solid book of military science fiction, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It definitely could have been the missing campaign that the Star Wars: Battlefront game needed, plenty of action, betrayal, redemption, and drama. For a first full length novel, Freed writes well and I compliment him on his first effort. Recommended for sure.
