Good beach read. But if you are looking for a detailed book with depth, this isn't it.

This book was a last minute addition during my time at the book sale. I didn't even know why I thought I wanted it but i bought it. And then *cues in eerie music* it blew my mind for it was neither a) slow or b) boring.

As you can see from the cover there are two punctured holes on a young girl's neck. So one can assume with ease that this is about vampires. YES, but what one does not realize that this is a classic from the Count Dracula's time (None of that Twilight or Uninvited nonsense).
The flow of the story was moving at a reasonable speed. there was no 'wait, what the hell happened?' moments no 'what nonsense' moments. The vampire in here (we call him Count ZSE-something unpronounceable) is a truly evil vampire who wants our main girl, Ellen because she's special. Her blood is special. And to make matters more intense, at one point he became her doctor and tells everyone she's hallucinating. How to gain instant trust on another fellow? How to ensure another person would hand you his/her life and trusts you with it? By becoming a doctor. That way you can gain access to your patient(or prey) so much easier.

Oh,such pure geniusnosity.

This was a re-read. I originally read it a long time ago when it was still being advertised as part of the Point Horror Unleashed series. I loved it back then and would have given it five stars. After re-reading it though I guess my reading tastes have matured and now I find it to be missing in explanations and down-right unbelievable in parts. I guess it should be unbelievable as it's a vampire story but how do you explain it when the main characters nurse suddenly becomes her best friend and willing to die for her after a short conversation about vampires. It's a very good plot that would have worked well if the book was maybe an extra 200 pages long. At only 200 pages there just wasn't enough room for the development that was so sorely needed.

i found this a strange book in the fact i loved the story yet i didnt get attatched to the characters and plus i found the end rushed as i thought it could have done with being a little longer as i feel there were a few loose ends that could have been tied up.

My review at age 11:

"Vampires! Really good. Interesting too, as it switches between times."

I went through a horror phase when I was 11 and 12 (intersperced with Meg Cabot and Sweet Valley) and this was probably one of the better books which I read. I recall being completely gripped by this book and rather scared. I think this is probably one of the first books I read where the book wasn't all told from one character's point of view, and in the present time, hence my amazement at "it switches between times." I actually remember writing an essay on this book in 2nd year (age 13) English, as it was a favourite of mine for several years.

I was quite amazed when I found out that this was originally published as a generic Point Horror book. 'Blood Sinister' is definitely better than the likes of Point!

I also found it amusing that nowadays, vampires aren't creatures whom you fear and try to escape from, and are instead...pin-ups? :P

I loooved it the first time I read it, but about a year later, when I read it again, I found it to be kind of boring
