I have not read Wuthering Heights, though I have seen the Tom Hardy miniseries, so you know, keep that in mind!
I really enjoyed this! One thing that I really appreciate about these Remixes is that they take often fairly tragic stories and imbue them with hope and optimism, and I think that's so great. I like that Suri didn't take anything away from Cathy and Heathcliff's personalities, but she gave us the context of them and their relationship, while at the same giving them the strength and wisdom to choose better than in the original text.

This retelling is set during the period when teenaged Heathcliff ran away. We hear Cathy and Heathcliff's voices--the chapters alternate between Heathcliff and Cathy in the first person while they are apart and grapple with their futures and discovering their origins.
The historical facts of British imperialism are a key part of this retelling; not just for Heathcliff's origins, but Cathy's too. This also leads to the ending, which although I very much enjoyed the overall vision of this story, I have more mixed feelings about the resolution. Regardless, it was so well written I still rate the book highly.

Loving, nuanced, deeply empathetic portrayals of both Cathy and Heathcliff without making them not themselves. Absolutely gorgeous.
