this was a really captivating time-travel story, focused on love and family with and with a lot of mystery. most questions are answered by the end. i did find it a bit confusing and i am actively stopping myself from pondering the "rules" re: time travel and time loops etc. because 1) thats not the point of the story, and 2) it probably wont hold up to a ton of scrutiny. the time travel in this is more magical realism than hard sci-fi. i appreciate that, but i think the confusing nature of it is keeping me from rating this any higher.

i found the characters really compelling in this, though, particularly the farrows and how they interact with one another across generations and timelines. there was a bit of a half-baked love triangle in this that i dont think needed to be there, but otherwise i found the love story pretty solid. i found the reveals very guessable BUT i found that aspect very satisfying. not as atmospheric as spells for forgetting but much more solid and interesting plot

Wow. Just the nonstop feeling of heartbreak for me 💔 from beginning to end, and beautifully written. The narrator was amazing too 👏

This is better than the author's last book (Spells for Forgetting) and an interesting concept that I appreciated. I think the plot/idea was quite creative and unusual, but I wanted to go a little deeper than the author went.

The Unmaking and of June Farrow by Andrienne Young

🌻Magical Realism
🌻Time Travel
🌻Generational Family Saga
🌻Mystery
🌻Appalachian Small Town

I absolutely loved this book. There are multiple mysteries that slowly unravel throughout. I was surprised by nearly every twist and turn.  The multigenerational story of Farrow women is told so well. The way these women supported and continuously showed up for one another is feminist at its best.  The love story was one of my favorite parts. It is intense and beautiful.

I highly recommend!
