Much funnier than I was expecting. A little slower than I would have preferred, but solid mysteries. I would love an Amelia Peabody movie or TV adaptation. Could be amazing.

Even though it's pretty much the same formula as the first two books, I still found it an entertaining and delightful read! I adored the continued banter and antics of Peabody and Emerson. Ramses is such a doll, and I find him to be a much beloved addition.
I plan to continue listening to the series as a palate cleanser.

meh
many people here are hating on ramses so much but i actually think he was about the most coherent and interesting character in this. i can't stand amelia at this point, especially because of the way she treats her son. not wanting children, struggling with or regretting motherhood are very important feminist issues. being absolutely cruel towards your child isn't.
somewhat less grossly colonialist and i think missionaries getting hate is absolutely justified but here it was for the wrong reasons defintely (pretty sure the problem with missionaries isn't mental illness).
the mystery wasn't really interesting and didn't make too much sense.
probably won't go on reading this even though it's free on audible and that says someting.

Not my favorite of the series, but it establishes things that become super awesome later! Like Bastet, of course. :)
