My Review: Being different is something that Lillian Hunt has gotten used to for her entire life. Growing up in the hands of her grandparents after her mother left and her father passed away, Lily often finds herself having trouble fitting in and socializing with those of her own age. However, when her dreams start becoming too real and she sees and hears things that are not really there, she begins to worry that she has indeed growing insane.

Everything changes when she suddenly encounters a danger during a walk in the wood and is saved by a young man, Christian, who later tells her that she is more than she leads herself to believe. She is then trusted into a world she never knows exist, world that previously belongs to her mother, the world where Sentients – gifted humans with special talents – exist to control the supernatural beings and help keeping the balance in the world. As Lily is apart of this Sentient’s world, she also has her own power that she must learn to control and use at certain circumstances. What sort of endowment that Lily possessed and how does the new community of Sentients that takes her in helps her to learn the power that she only now finds out she has all along?

Debut author, Jennifer DeLucy, has successfully created a very interesting, intense and well thought-out world that is similar to our own though filled with supernatural beings and humans with supernatural abilities. Seers of Light is indeed an intensifying read that takes me by surprise and completely blows my mind away. It starts off rather slow at first but the story builds up quickly after the background has been established. Another aspect of Seers of Light that startles me is the fact that it is dialogue-driven, which is something I’m not completely used to before. It is distracting at first but nonetheless; it tremendously helps in picturing the development and chemistry between characters a lot better.

Another interesting part of Seers of Light is its characters. There are quite a lot of them in this book and it is surprising to see that each and every one of them is multidimensional and has their own important, distinct and unique roles. Among them all, I feel that the most important characters are: (1) Lily – a likeable and practical character that knows what she wants and is able to handle any hardship that happens in her life, (2) Christian – the “Combatant” that rescued Lily in the wood is a very emotional character but there are reasons as to why he behaves that way and (3) William – a mysterious, attractive and interesting character that feels like he has no where in the world that he could fit in. It is very interesting to see the development of these three characters and the connection between them as the story goes on.

DeLucy has indeed created a novel that rich with terrifying mystery and astounding storyline, weaves with delicious, intricate romance. The ending of this book gives closure to readers while at the same time, opens the door to possible sequel, which I hope will be released in near future. All I can say about this novel is: I.Need.More!

Final Verdict: Enchanting and utterly refreshing, Seers of Light is indeed a must read especially to those who love paranormal romance. I don't think I've come across book such as this one before. Definitely an original.

Memorable Quote: Taking a step forward, I stood in the light, tilted my head back and closed my eyes. It held my face and wrapped its arms around my shoulders, and for the very first time, I let hope in – Lily Hunt

I am NEVER reading two books at once ever again!
Before starting this book, I was reading Joe Abercrombies First LAw Trilogy, then I got a kindle for my birthday and got so excited that I downloaded Seersof Light and began reading. Since my other book is a slow read I got into Seers of Light and was stuck reading 2 books. Really, I did not give them their due, books should be cherished one at a time. Anyways. This book is special to me for extremely shallow reasons, one being the fact that it was my first kindle read and two is the main characters name. Lilian. Yep, shallow I know!
That being said, this was a pretty mindless book. Unrealistic in so many ways, even worse than fairytales. It also read as a Y.A. book, since the vocab and grammer appeared pretty childish. However, it's apparent from the randomly thrown swear words and light sex scenes that it's not supposed to be Y.A. Fail.
Buuuuuuuuuutttt I don't want to be too harsh on the book, just for Lilians sake. There were some cute moments, if you're looking for a fantasy equivalent to a brainless Y.A. HEA go for it :P

My head is still reeling from re-reading this book (yes I said re-reading) and so I'll write in as logical a fashion as I can! I promise not to ramble too badly.

Seers of Light is truly beautiful. Honestly if I could only describe it in one word, that would be it: beautiful. Jennifer has crafted a world where everything is completely different, and yet so enticing. Seers of Light is a story that will stay with you long after you turn the last page, and you will find yourself sighing at the fact that there is no more left to read.

Remember that I have said many times before that characters are my thing? If the characters are great, I am invested in the story. On that note, I find the need to applaud Jennifer for her character development of epic proportions! I loved EVERY character, down to the smallest supporting ones. The fact that I still remember Mrs. Bridget Cavanaugh who makes but a brief, albeit very memorable, visit into the story amazes me! Truly, the characters of Seers pop off the page with their unique personalities!

Interjection here to say that I adore Lily. She is the perfect example of a strong female protagonist and I am in awe of her. Pair that with interactions with sweet, stubborn Christian and deliciously snarky William and you have one amazing storyline! Able to make you laugh out loud at one point, and make your toes curl in delight at another? Jennifer, you are a masterful writer.

Emotion is also a very important piece of loving a book for me. Reading this story was emotionally exhausting in the best way possible. Bristling with anger and annoyance, tearing up at touching moments, feeling empathy in the highest degree, I never felt that there was a dull moment. In fact, I found myself wanting to read well past the bookmarks I had set for myself so that I wouldn't stay up too late! Reading past midnight although you know you have to be up early the next morning? That is a good story.

There are so many other things I could say about how amazing this book is! However then I would be rambling and you would probably all just shake your head and walk away. I do not exaggerate my friends when I say that this is one of my absolute new favorite books. After purchasing and reading this in e-book format, I now know that I must own a bound copy. Stat.

Give this a read! If you enjoy emotional roller coasters, love triangles, some of the deepest and most beautiful love imaginable...and the list goes on, you'll fall in love with this book too.

This book was amazing. Way better then I thought it would be. I started reading it and I was instantly addicted. I thought about it all the time, I am really glad I read this book. It was written really well and it didn't confuse me or lose me at all. I was so sad when it was over, but I am so excited for the next one! This is definetely one of the best books I have read in a while.

Jennifer DeLucy’s Seers of Light is a journey of love, hope, and courage. The story follows Lily, a pathcrosser and empath, who is saved by Christian from a vampire attack. After a brief explanation from Christian, he takes her to Georgia to Abram and the other endowed people. There she discovers who she really is and her destiny, to battle evil spirits and beings. She trains with William, the vampire with a soul. Before their first training session Lily decides to hate him for what he is not who. He expects and puts up with her attitude stating that she can hate him all she wants just as long as she learns what she needs to survive. As the training sessions continue, she starts to see the humanity in William. Christian, seeing that Lily is being less hostile with William, becomes very clingy, even though they are not dating. He starts to follow her around like a “golden retriever.” When a coven of vampires located near her hometown starts to threaten Lily’s new happy life, she along with her new family, must defeat them, or die trying.
All the characters in Seers of Light were real. I found I had a lot in common with Lily. Although, I don’t think I’m quite as stubborn as she is. After spending most of her life seeing spirits and being empathetic, Lily is more than happy to go where she is accepted and even admired for her abilities. She is very kind, but also judgmental and a bit gullible. Her love interest in the story is William Maddox. I could talk about William for the rest of my life. In fact, I’ve reread Seers of Light so many times that I’ve actually lost count, all because of William. Even after reading it X amount of times I still feel my heart beat erratically whenever he walks in the room, or speaks, or is brought up in the conversation. Jennifer DeLucy did a marvelous job writing his character. William is a vampire who got his soul back. Everything about him is human except his body. The sentients, other endowed people, around the world aren’t too fond of him, nor is Christian. Christian spends most of his time voicing his hatred of William to his face. Poor William. He is so tortured but still strives to do what is right. Unlike Christian, William allows Lily to make her own mistakes and decisions. All I can say is that every time William did something or said something especially cute or witty I pretty much swooned- which was quite often. Christian bugged me. There were so many times when he interrupted William and Lily moments that got me out of my seat screaming “Shut up, Christian!” or “Go away, Christian!” But to be fair, Christian has problems of his own. By the end, I thought Christian was okay. Abram was kind of like the head of the house. If I had to pick an actor to play him it would be Morgan Freeman. He’s wise and very grandfatherly. The rest of the characters are beautifully brought to life and fill the novel with an amazing story.
Jennifer DeLucy explores love and courage in her novel. Love is a huge, and I mean gigantic huge, theme in Seers of Light. She forces the characters to examine their hearts and what it means to love. Love takes courage-it is a leap of faith. As a reader, I felt the love wrapped around the characters. To love someone, sometimes sacrifices must be made to keep or save that love. Seers of Light contained every form of love as well as the ups and downs of it.
Seers of Light is one of those books that I can’t recommend enough. I’ve read this book more than three times (lost count after that). After every reread, I dreamt about William. I’m not exaggerating. I did. This is the only book that I’ve dreamt about more than once. It will stick in your mind. It will make you reflect about your own life and how love has affected you. The smooth and easy flow of reality and the paranormal is proof of Jennifer DeLucy’s skill at story-telling. The paranormal aspect takes up a huge part of the book, but it is so completely believable that you barely notice it. There are so many books where the paranormal is just too unbelievable that it ruins the book for me. I’m so glad my library didn’t have this book. By buying a copy (kindle!) I am now able to bring it with me wherever I go. Which means, William goes with me everywhere ;) Goodness! Seers of Light is an exceptional novel. The characters are memorable, the dialogue is absorbing, the suspense is thrilling, and the romance is truly beautiful. I adored this book!

I've been meaning to write a review for this for a while and have forgotten a number of times.

I really enjoyed this book, one of my biggest praises for the author is the imagination she used to create the Seers world. It's obvious from the history included and the intricacies described that it was a world that took a unique imagination and careful construction to create and I throughly enjoyed entering that world through reading Seers of Light.

Lily is a wonderful lead character, I think most of all her down to earth character keeps the story real and interesting because it's a character we can connect with as we read. Of course, William is hard to ignore as he is just the right mixture of mystery and elusiveness that makes the reader feel like they can't get enough. And while Christian is considered a good guy and seems so at first, his attitude further in the book is quite off putting, as no doubt the intention of the author for the character and at times I wished I could punch him for being an idiot. After hearing about his history later in the book though, he wins a small bit of sympathy back as his attitude is not solely based on self righteousness.

I do have to say that Anna and Katrina are two of my favorite characters in the book. The bouncy optimism of Anna is contagious through the book and you can see how Katrina adores her for it. Also, Abram is another of my favorite with his often confusing words of wisdom.

The dialogue led plot was new for me. I guess I'm so used to a narration led plot that it took me a bit to get used to the different structure of the book. I kept waiting for the breaks of narration and while they were some, it's not what I was used to. The dialouge led plot is interesting though and the story still moves along well and consistently, Jennifer does an amazing job with how she chose to write the book. I'm sure it will still take a little getting used to for me but I look forward to continuing with it in the next book!

Echhhhhh, it's like this author read Twilight and wanted to improve upon the whole Edward-Bella-Jacob triangle by creating her own in a different universe. And she did improve upon it, but considering how bad Twilight was, that's not saying much. The love triangle in this book, while developed more carefully, is just as overblown and unbelievable as Meyer's contrivance. Lily Hunt has just enough Mary Sue in her to be compared to Bella, as well. Is she a 29-year-old woman? I don't believe it. She speaks and acts like a teenager, an immature, naive, and emotional one; and yet, she's extraodinarily powerful for a new addition to the ghost-busting team in this novel, and everyone loves her.
The writing style is easy to read - too easy, if you know what I mean. I cringed at one too many times during this book, and I'm not reading the sequel.

3.5 stars. I loved the premise, but at times, the story moved too slowly and it had too much dialogue.

I am on a role with good books lately! Lily was stocking her grandparents store when a man came in. He stared at her, told her he knew she was cheating on him and pointed a gun at her. She of course freaked out, but when her grandfather came in the man was gone. Later the tapes revealed that there was no man in the store. At first she thought she was crazy, until a vampire tried to drain her. Her mother left when she was very small, and her dad died later. Raised by her grandparents, she always knew, or felt something was missing. She is then thrown into the life of a Sentient, a human with skills, and told that she is Sentient as was as her mother. Christian the guy who brought her from her home to the Sentients home falls for her almost instantly, but it's William that she has eyes for. Very slow start, but once it picks up it doesn't slow down. Hopefully the next book will keep up the momentum.

Lily's mother left when her Sentient light drew harmful beings, she chose to leave rather than endanger Lily or her father. William is a vampire, turned, but given back his soul so that he is mostly human now. He an Lily are soulmates, literally. He was turned into a vampire to align their time together. Abram is a seer, and knew that they were supposed to be together, and manipulated events to make that happen.
