Although we never get to read about the actual wedding, and the story doesn't give off the same kind of Mia vibe - Mia has grown up after all - I suppose I enjoyed reading it nonetheless. Liked it.

Sometimes the world goes crazy and you need to read a Princess Diaries book.

I've been a fan of the series since I was about 9 so I was SO EXCITED when I found out that this was coming out! I really had thought Forever Princess was going to be the last book in the series (which upset me quite a bit, obviously, but it was still pretty good as an end to the series) so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out there was another book coming out AND it was titled Royal Wedding (like I said, I liked Forever Princess but there wasn't nearly enough Mia/Michael in it for me). I hadn't expected to read the book so soon (I thought the UK release date was a little bit later???) but I happened upon it while in the airport yesterday and almost squealed when I saw it because I was so excited to be able to read it! I had a five hour layover before my flight and I just devoured it. Absolutely loved it! It was just as funny as I was used to and I don't think I've ever loved Michael as I did in Royal Wedding. He was so adorable and loving and protective of Mia and I think he was one of my favorite characters in the book. Mia was great; she was pretty much the same Mia from her teens- just as paranoid about everything, just as hilarious and just as likely to get herself into awkward and problematic situations. I live for the romance in the books so I loved how a few of the relationships (!!) came full circle and how much some of the characters, including Mia, grew. I especially loved ever-present Paolo, who managed to dispense some of the best advice in the book.

BASICALLY IT WAS REALLY CUTE AND I'M SO HAPPY MIA AND MICHAEL GOT MARRIED BECAUSE I'VE LITERALLY BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT SINCE THEY STARTED DATING /end

This book made my year. I read a few of the Princess Diaries books when I was younger and I remember really loving them, but the movie was so bad that it made me lose interest. It was so great to be able to come back to Mia and Michael and all their friends and see how things are going. I think this stands alone as a novel, although there are continual little reminders of the earlier books in a "remember the good times we had, aren't you glad we're still friends?" kind of way.

One of the better ones in the series, even if it was frustrating that apparently the main character doesn't learn lessons very well. Some was predictable and everything was wrapped up a little too easily, but definitely a great way to wrap up the series.

I'm really sad that I can't give this book five stars but a) the ending was waaaay too rushed, and b) a number of things (which I shall not name here because of spoilers) were left with no detail or resolution.
However! I am quite happy that this still read like any other 'Princess Diaries' book but with a few 'adult' mentions here and there (nothing explicit).
I'm sad to see this series come to an end but I'm glad we got a bigger ending than what we were left in 'Forever Princess'.
