OK thriller but the love story was too quick, you did not feel it.

June Faver has a new fan and I just might squee on her FB page to prove it. On Ice isn amazing story filled with rich settings and--ohmigod, the characters! TJ, Terrence, Honeybee, Ben...I loved them all. After years of abuse, Rene finally decides to leave her Houston husband, with some help from her sister, and travels with her children to the wilds of Alaska. Once there, Rene transforms from terrified mouse to a woman with the strength and spirit of a bear. Most of the story flips between the POVs of Rene and her sister Maddy, as one rebuilds her life and the other avoids the vicious husband, but there are a few scenes with secondary characters. What makes this story so incredible is the detail of the Alaskan wilderness (I want to go now) and the unique personalities that the reader grows to know and love. If you'll excuse me, I have an author's backlist to buy.

I picked this up free for Kindle and I really enjoyed it. When we meet Rene she is running from an abusive husband along with her two young children. With the help of her sister, she sets out to make a new life for herself, but she lives in fear that he will find them and kill her. The point of view shifts to her sister Maddy and the psycho husband so we see what is going on back home, though Rene has no idea. There are many great characters, both in Alaska and back in Texas, that add a bit of fun to the story. The whole time you're wondering when the husband will catch up to her and what he will do when he finds her. A great read if you love romance (that is not too explicit) and suspense that keeps you turning pages.
