The sequel was good, just not quite as good. I didn’t love the romantic storyline as much which was me just being stubborn.

But I was still here for her further exploration of her future and how she tried to find her place.

Read if you enjoyed: Princess Diaries, Instructions for Dancing or Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute

A hilarious, magical, and brilliant second installment to the “Tokyo Ever After” series.

I adored the new and old characters in this book, and the romance was swoon-worthy. The setting was surreal- Emiko does such a beautiful job at describing places, I often felt like I was there

While I like the first book better, Tokyo Dreaming is fun. In many ways Tokyo Dreaming is more about the family and their relationship with the Imperial Agency, but it also features Izumi just trying to figure things out and dealing with the extremely high expectations as the daughter of the Crown Prince.

Two characters I really enjoyed in this story were her cousins. There’s quite a journey in the relationship between them and Izumi. What I didn't like was the love triangle.

Highly recommended to readers who enjoy contemporary stories, especially ones centered on being royal. Also, if you're new to this, do read the first book, Tokyo Ever After, first.

I loved the last sentence. “Life is a poem, I’m going to write it.” (taking from Life is a Song) But honestly the whole book was good.
