If you look at my other reviews, I raced through the first three books in this series and absolutely loved them but I didn’t like this one nearly as much? I think the multiple POVs threw me off, I didn’t like the back and forth but the ending definitely still has me excited for the next book!

SpoilerI loved being with the gang again but the story started relatively slowly. Part of the issue was that I didn't care for Grayon as a character, and found him quite boring. He needs therapy.

Fortunately, the paced picked up and was faster as the story progressed. Grayson was much more tolerable with his family around, especially Gigi, and I even liked him in the end. Despite that, I'd rather not read his perspective unless others are with him. Of course I enjoyed Jameson's chapters. He's my favourite character in this series and worked perfectly with Avery.

There was a lot of personal reflection from the days with Tobias Hawthorne for both Grayson and Jameson, and I believe these slower chapters impacted the pacing too. Generally speaking, I didn't like switching between the two points of view in this book because it felt like I was reading two different mysteries. It took me out of the story when it suddenly switched.

Plot-wise it was a super tense book and I felt so many emotions. I adored the parts where everybody was with Grayson. He finally opened up and has a real family from both his mum and dad's side, despite having shitty parents. My only gripe is Eve. I didn't like that she was in this book, or that she's set up as the villian for the future. She is awful and I'd rather she be killed off!
