A normal suburban family. Or is it?
The older of two daughters begins acting very strange. Is she mentally ill? Is she possessed?
How should a family handle such a struggle?
We should make it a reality TV show, obviously! šŸ˜‚

I don't want to give too much away here.

This book was wild and not at all what I expected. The actual event, the tv show profiting off of a family drama, a blog that dissects the show and how it correlates/ pays homage to classic horror, and a horrific tragedy.
What a ride.

I didn't personally like Karen and her blog. Every time I was starting to feel a creepy vibe, this blogger would come in and bring me out of that creepy feeling. However, this odd element was something that I'm not used to, which in itself is different and somewhat refreshing.

Bit disappointed with this read! I really wanted to enjoy it and was excited to read it! I feel it didn't live up to the blub -it made it seem like something that it wasn't- nor did it live up to some of the reviews I've seen. I expected something creepy and scary, but it read more like a YA story.

I did enjoy how it highlighted religion vs mental health, in the states and how it showed how misunderstood and under treated it can be. As it didn't give the horror/scare factor I was led to expect, I feel the book would have been greatly helped by this aspect being explored further.

I really was surprised and heart broken at the end. And curious ? I did not see the ending twist coming. Really enjoyed this book.

I loved this book. It was an excellent call back to Gothic horror and the blog post sections where the events are deconstructed in comparison to contemporary horror stories made me smile.

I really enjoyed this book a lot, so much that I finished it in one day. I'm going to have to check out some of his other works now, for sure!
