James and Ellise have a one night history. When he's introduced to her at Thornewall, as Lucy's midwife, he's wondering if she's being honest about her qualifications. The more time they spend together, the harder they fall for each other. She loves him but he doesn't want to be in love with her because he needs to marry someone for a dowry. Ellise has no family, no dowry, no title, and no lands. The one thing she does have is SECRETS! Many, many secrets!

Fantastic book! I love all the Borderland Legacy books. The story line flows smoothly with characters that grow with the story. My heart goes out to Ellise for the loss and pain that she's had to endure. Sizzling chemistry between her and James leads to some scorching hot scenes. I also love to see characters from previous books. The sense of family I get when they are all together is heart warming. The writing style of Samantha Holt is remarkable. I am excited to see what's next!
