This story was very cute. This was truly a cozy romance and was just a very sweet book to read. However there were a few things I wish had been done slightly differently. Such as the characters being developed a bit more. At times they felt a little two dimensional and flimsy in certain sections of the book. The pacing also felt odd in some places and I feel like there were some unresolved issues within the book. Such as the issue of a witches parents dying shortly after her birth. I felt like that was brought up quite a bit and thought they would find a solution or fix for that or at the very least find out more about how the spell when wrong but the author just never really did anything with it. Overall I’d say this was a solid read, cute and sweet. I enjoyed the magic system it’s not one I’ve seen before and was unique and interesting. I also loved the found family aspect, and Mika finding her place within Nowhere House.

My expectations were set pretty high when I saw this described as Practical Magic meets The House in the Cerulean Sea - and it did not disappoint! This cozy little book truly was so very good.

Mika Moon has been taught to hide her witchy powers from the world and to stay away from other witches lest the magic become too strong. But the offer she gets to teach 3 young witches to control their power comes just at the right time, and so off she heads to break all the rules she’s been living by. She has mere weeks to get these young witches in shape before they could be taken away from their family - an archaeologist, a retired actor, 2 caretakers, and the grumpy handsome librarian (SWOON).

This was so cute and cozy. I loved Mika and her relationship with the girls! I would have loved just a liiiiiittle more chemistry between her and the librarian! And the stakes didn’t seem very high for the main conflict, but that’s just me being picky. I truly loved this book!

4.25 magical stars!

I loved this book! Such cozy, magical vibes; very similar to TJ Klune books (which I love). The characters are so unique and lovable and the magical world is cleverly constructed with easily graspable rules and limitations. The overall message of the book was very sweet as well. Highly recommend for any fans of TJ Klune or any readers needing a little bit of whimsical warmth in this cold time of year.
