Fascinating. I am already gearing up to listen to it again so I can put these skills to use in my own life.

the guy was a little too pretentious just for being in the cia (like yes cool dude but no need to make it ur whole personality) and i feel like a lot of the tips were just common sense, some cool stuff tho ig

I like this book. It's not overblown promises on how to become a human lie detector; it's actual techniques for better question-asking. The format is pretty simple--some CIA officials take you through "the model", which is their simple system for interviewing. It involves asking open-ended questions, repressing your biases, and looking for clusters of deceptive behavior. Moms will get the drill! A really neat feature I liked of the book was an appendix filled with lists of sample questions for interviewing a babysitter, asking your spouse when you suspect infidelity, asking a child about negative behaviors, etc. I really liked this book and I think I'll be using "the method" when I have child of my own.
