i liked this book a lot and the characters and premise were great. my favorite part was the writing; lacour's prose was very poetic and vivid, and definitely a highlight of the book.
however, i had some serious issues with the pacing. the beginning was quite slow and it took a while to settle in. the ending was very abrupt. i understand sometimes that's purposeful, but it wasnt working for me. there were so many unanswered questions and unfinished plot lines. it left me wanting more, but not in a good way. it felt like the author was in a rush to finish.

This book was just okay. The scary part didn't scare me and I just couldn't get concerned about any of the characters.

Who me? Crying? Over a book? A book about grief I specifically chose because the reviews said was emotional?

This book is super atmospheric and vibe-y and honestly at times I wasn't sure how I felt but that last 1/3 was like a punch in the gut. In a good way. Well a sad way?
