Life just after Dunkirk and there’s something strange happening in Kent. Hauntingly creepy from the beginning with parades of dancing scarecrows yet laugh out loud funny with some of the descriptions. The writing and characterisation of Faye is both innocent and charming. A wonderfully simplistic fantasy set in a quintessential English village during World War 2.

OH
MY
GOODNESS

That was so good!
The atmosphere, the ideas, the writing, characters and magic - breathtaking. Stunning. I have no words to describe how amazing that was. It's a brilliant book that will make your spine shiver and feed your imagination.

I am speechless, and in a big need for book two.

Weirdly like a children’s book with an adult cast. If the main character had been 10 it would be a great kids story. Think Wurzel Gummidge or Woof! But it  isn’t a kids book, and so came across as silly and juvenile. I couldn’t work it out, and realised I didn’t want to.

Loved this so much! It’s a book full of magic, budding witches and sentient scarecrows.
