Thanks to PRHAudio for this complimentary audiobook! A book that definitely reads/plays itself into you. A multigenerational family drama that examines family struggles that everyone can relate with but from the Chicano culture living in Denver during segregation times. This one was tough because the racism and xenophobia is not far from current times that I kept forgetting it was set in the 1930s... That's messed up to say right? Obviously it was worse but that undercurrent of this story had you constantly full of dread. The story of family from other cultures is always welcome in my library and I am glad I read this book. Would make for a good Book Club pick.

Just wasn't the book for me, a mean I did read it till the end to see if my opinion on it would change but nope, I just couldn't get into it, a mean there was a few bits I liked about it and some bits I didn't like.
The plot of woman Of light was good, just wasn't for me, a mean I did like the people in the book too, they are also another reason why I continued to the end.
In all honesty I did like it as a one off book, I do recommend woman of light to those that may like to read this in there spare time.

Beautifully written and well researched. However, it felt like there were too many storylines and not enough resolutions

Somewhere between 3.5 and 3.75. Took me a while to get into it, but then found myself invested in the characters across the timeline.

This story follows multiple generations of an indigenous Chicano family in the Midwest. It is beautifully written and a story that was definitely need of telling as often times the mass deportations, prejudice/racism, and KKK targeting of this group of people is severely overlooked. It took me a while to get used to the shifting of generational stories every few chapters, but they all connected wonderfully by the end and helped you understand internal motivation of some of the main characters. I wish there was more story as I was not ready for it to end when it did!
