Started off promising. Then it dragged. Then it picked up. Then I [speedily] limped to the end.

I'm noticing a common habit in the New Canon when describing characters as "alien," but failing to give any hint of what makes them an "alien." Species, please? Other times an alien will be described but the narrative fails to name it. Most of the time you may be able to guess but, other times, it could be describing a number of species. A bit annoying!

Another great, gritty Star Wars story. After reading both this selection and Alphabet Squadron, I can say that Freed definitely has a style to telling Star Wars stories. I really enjoy getting to see a lot of these iconic moments in Star Wars from individuals who played background roles. The stakes seem so much higher.
The battles are very well written as well. I enjoyed this book overall. There's just some moments where it's a bit slow.

Good, gritty war story. Similar to Rogue One. Really enjoyed this one.
