Fantastical novel with elementary writing—perfect for the young reader who will soon grow up with these books.

A feel good teenage read. Something I would have picked out when I was starting my secondary school but I didn’t have money back then. And fictional books cost heaps of money back when I was younger and I prioritized food more than books.

Didn’t want to ask from my parents to get me these. Now that I’m an adult, I’m splurging in all the books that I have always wanted.

Anyway.

Yes, I watched the movies before reading this but how can you blame me? It was so hyped up when I was younger, you’d watch the movie first too if it costs you 1/4 of the price of the books.

The read was easy and I felt every inch of giddiness in Harry when he first entered Hogwarts. Basically being an alien in a world that he had no idea existed for 11 years, everything seems to amaze him. I was amazed too (recalling the first time I saw the movie and everything was so animated).

A solid 5/5.

This was one of the first "real" books I read, when I was seven. It was a switch for my passion for reading, like it was and is for many kids. Every once in a while I still reread it, and find that as a teen who might relate more to the later Harry Potter books, this is still very valid and I always enjoy reading it. It is not my favourite, but it definitely has the best and most iconic atmosphere of all the other six books.

I can't not smile when I read this series. It's been a long time since I've cracked this bad boy open, so I figured a re-read was in order. Still love it; got the warm and fuzzy feeling of nostalgia. This was the very first book I bought for myself at the Scholastic Book Fair many moons ago, when I said to myself "Hmm, what's Harry Potter?" Still a fun read years later.
