Reread bc I forgot everything since reading it for the first time like 10 years ago. I liked the premise and most of the characters, but I can't help but feel a little creeped out by some of their behaviour. Like why is this a YA book and the love interest and his buddies constantly comment on how dangerous hanging out with them could be and how the MC should not e.g. go to the basement with "three strange guys". I get they're trying to be mysterious but could this not be portrayed in any other way? And why was I confused about whether or not she kind of fancied her stepbrother-to-be in the beginning? I feel like there shouldn't be any uncertainty...
I also think I'm slowly getting to old to really enjoy YA, or it was maybe just this one bc I was cringing so hard at the outfit choices or some dialogue (which seems fitting for teenagers!! and teenage readers!)...
What I did really like was that there was no unnecessary plot to reveal how the MC and MMC feel for each other, he was always quite upfront about it.Slay, Henry!

What put me off about this book weren't the writing stye or the general worldbuilding. But rather all those harmful stereotyes conveyed not through some but all characters.
The pathetic attempt to build an interesting main character failed. I mean Liv has the most interesting background story but it's irrerelevant for the stories. The focus of the story kinda remains with the good-looking boygroup. She's doing Kung-fu but even that is on ever mentioned in one or two sentences. Also "since when are u so girly?" She's contantly judged for her actions as a girl but has to go through the average cinderella transformation. It bored me so much.
