Voluntary ARC review: (disclaimer , I have not read the first book of this series). FINALLY a FMC that has enough sense to use her brain! Talia was a breath of fresh air. And I loved following as Talia and Prince Adante came together. It was gradual and believable. And the smut was

Ok, technically it was a beta read, not the final version, but OH MY GOSH I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD TO READ THIS BOOK!

I was worried about Adante. Like, I hated him in book 1. How was Zara going to make him a love interest that I cared about?

Well, she did. I think I actually love him. I'm team Leo and team Adante, both! This book is even better than book 1. Can't wait.

This was such an engrossing book! This fast-paced fantasy was full of plot and spice. This book can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read book one yet and was able to follow along with this book.

This deliciously dark story features a strong woman who is in a bad situation and her only option to stay safe is to join the royal palace collection which is a group of 50 personal consorts that serve the sexual needs of the royals. They are required to serve for 5 years and are compensated for the next 50 years.

The collection is nothing like she imagined and she’s used as a personal toy. Her only reprieve is winning favor with the Prince. He’s a sadist and my god the things he put her through!

Overall, this was a really good book and I’m definitely going to be reading book 1!

Great premise, albeit a bit creepy for women forced to be a part of the collection. I'm interested in seeing what happens next.

This book is a bit outside of my comfort zone since I don’t normally read dark romances, I have a hard time with them. I rarely can find a dark romance that I enjoy, but I did enjoy this one. Probably because I liked the characters, which always helps!

Talia is a tough character and brave, omg is she brave. The things she does in this book to get the attention of the Prince is insane! Talia is trying to get away from a gang essentially and joins the Collection, which is a group of girls that work at the palace and do whatever the nobles want them to do in a submissive form. This part was hard for me to read, so just a forewarning, but Talia likes to bend the rules a bit. It was terrifying and fascinating to see her bravely step out of line to get the attention of the Prince Adante who would be the only one who has the power to protect her and her family outside from the gang. She just doesn’t realize how dangerous the Prince can be.

It was definitely different from what I normally read. There is romance, and I really like the way the romance slowly develops and how the story ends. It is a dark romance, though. There is also some magic and technology. It made me think of like a sci-fi fantasy dark romance basically. It was an interesting blend of different genres.

If you enjoy steamy dark(emphasis on the darker side) romances with a hint of magic, you will enjoy this one! 4/5 ⭐️

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book soooo much. Having not read the first book, I was worried I wouldn't be able to understand the world, but the world building was fantastic. I loved Talia. I loved the Prince.

What I loved most about the Prince was that his personality never changed, but evolved. He was still the cruel Prince but he became so much more.

I can't wait for the 3rd book and I'm going to go read the 1st now.

This was my first time reading this author and I did not realize it was the second book in a series when I started but it was completely fine to jump right in with this one. I was immediately sucked in by the world building and Talia’s character. It was a very unique storyline and I loved Talia’s character. I loved that even though she was in the position that she was in, she wasn’t weak or stupid.

The reason that I gave this 4 stars as opposed to 5 is I did not like the prince. I’ve read plenty of dark romances with MMC’s that start as jerks but they always make you love them anyway. That just didn’t happen for me here. However, the plot and the FMC were good enough that it made up for my lack of love for him.

This is definitely a dark read so check those TW’s and don’t go into it expecting a sweet story- if you’re ok with a dark, but interesting and spicy read, you will enjoy this one.

While you completely can read this book (and the other one in the series) as standalones, reading them both gives a lot more insight in the events of either one. We really get more depth and information about certain events in the other book.

I didn’t know it was possible, but I fell in love with Andante (shocker, right?)! He and Talia just worked so well together and I enjoyed these characters a lot. I loved how their relationship changed and grew and the respect they do have for each other.
