I liked this book. It's a grand tale, following Zacharias, the Sorcerer Royal of Britain, and a woman named Prunella Gentlemen, who is also magically inclined. Without giving anything away, I will tell you that the plot is very exciting, with few dull moments.
The characters are all pretty good, and Zacharias was my favorite. I didn't like Prunella all the time, as I thought she could have been a bit more studious, but I admired her cunning and deviousness, along with her utter disregard for propriety at times. I didn't really expect her to be how she was, and when I wrapped my head around it, I quite liked it. Lady Wythe was awesome, and I really liked her.
I liked how Zacharias and Sir Stephen had to work through the problems they didn't face in life, and it's definitely something children tend to face with parental figures. It was a step Zacharias needed. Speaking of that sort of thing, the plot had several shocking twists and turns, and the one at the end was a real doozy! It was fabulous. 4.5 stars. Do yourself a favor and go read this book!

Liked it.
Though it's a slow start, the characters will charm your socks off, especially Prunella and Rollo. A great found family trope. Would enjoy a sequel.

Delightful.
It's very much an old British comedy of manners in the form of stuffy British wizards with all their insufferable English nobleman views on who is and who isn't worth anything in society, that is the problematic sexist, racist and classist views of old. Whimsy and comeuppance abound the further into this story you get.

I had a lovely time with this book. It's sassy and full of magic and it grabbed my interest from the beginning with amazing characters that were never in the centre of the propper stories, and now they have a wonderful story to protagonize.
A punch in the gut of the British Empire and at the same time a nod to the REgency Romance. I would gladly have read more about this time period, so will probably grab the second book.
