This may be one of Devney Perry’s best. The story is well thought out and executed with just the right amount of detail. For a book that promised spice and lacked it, I really didn’t mind because the plot was so good. Everly and Hux each had such strong character arcs separately and as a unit credited a great story. For how relatively short this novel is, Perry accomplishes so much. I do wish we used Hux’s first name, Reese, more. Simply bc Huxley or Huxley is a dumb name.
Minor: Domestic abuse, Violence, and Stalking

This book was a slow start but eventually it did pick up and I was able to connect with the characters. I love a marriage of convenience story, especially when someone starts off emotionally closed off and then let’s their spouse in like Hux. The third act conflict did have me tearing up, Hux and Everly were a couple you rooted for. I was hoping this series would be more like The Edens series or Clifton Forge series but unfortunately the writing is not as strong.
Moderate: Gun violence, Panic attacks/disorders, Toxic relationship, Violence, Stalking, and Murder
Minor: Death, Physical abuse, and Car accident
