One of those classics you hear about your whole life and finally get around to reading. It was definitely slow in some parts, but so uplifting. The imagery of the growing garden coming alive just fills my heart and makes me feel so alive myself. Its definitely a classic worth reading.

In the past I had given this 5 stars because I read it multiple times as a child/adolescent and always loved it. However, I recently listened to this on audio book with my six-year-old and it just wasn't QUITE as awesome as I remembered. Maybe it was the way the narrator interpreted the characters (especially Colin), but the "magic" stuff seemed a bit overdone to my mommy-ears this time around.
