There were sections of writing in this book, which I adored. At points the language really wrapped you up in a fairy tale, but the overall plot (or plot-relevant language) felt a little predictable and boring. It felt close to being a book I absolutely loved but in the end, for me, missed the mark slightly.

A fun modern-day fairy tale about processing grief through story and generosity.

I loved loved loved this book.  I ended up savouring it, this extraordinary magical realism novel, which I found out to be an enchanting adult fairy tale.  Just get past the grief infused beginning, the sudden catastrophic deaths of two much loved people, and then see the journey.  This fairy tale even has its own wicked wolf.

I found myself unexpectedly tearing up ten pages towards the end.  Magical!
