The broken hero...Those are always my favorite.

Ooh, so angsty. There's a fair amount of repetition and predictability to this series now, six books in, but I enjoyed the ride.

This is Jase and Brenna's book. There are so many good moments in this book. Jase is still a typical Kayrs male with all his bossy, Alpha tendencies toward his mate Brenna. I like how Brenna was able to twist his nature a bit because she is so sweet. Her character really softens Jase. I love how each of the main characters have an ornery, sarcastic side to them as well. This trait gives the reader some real laugh out loud scenes. The battle that Jase is having with his recovery makes this book a little darker than the previous books in this series and his internal dialogue can be monotonous in some places that slows the pace of the book somewhat. However, the side characters really shine and make the reader excited about the next in series. High five for Garrett, Zane, and Janie! This is a good bridging novel for the epic conclusion.

More like 4 1/2. Good characters and a good plot. I'm going to be sad when I get to the end of the overall plot that threads through this. It's been a good run. Although I know she has a spinoff so I'll have to read those as well.

I had know from the moment Jase Kayrs met Breanne Dunne, that they would have an HEA. They just made sense...but it has been a long time (4 books) to get here.

It's been five years since the Kayrs brothers rescued their baby brother Jase from the demons, and Jase is still messed up. The torture and mind games has left him perpetually angry and unfortunately, powerless.
Jase was the brother who had control over water elements and since his release, his powers do not work.

Breanne Dunne, who had also been been kidnapped by the demons, is dying because they forced her to drink planekite, which is poisonous to witches. She has been given less than six months to live until her aunt Vivian comes with a brilliant plan. Mate with a vampire, and gain the immortality that comes with the mating.

Jase volunteers because mating would allow him to share Breanne's gifts as a witch and he can use it to get revenge against the Demons who held him prisoner for five years.

The only problem is that Breanne wants what her older sister Moira has with Jase's older Brother Conn--LOVE. A classic case of Revenge or Love, which is more important.

I really enjoyed this book as I knew I would. This series gets better and better. Alpha males with strong capable females, definitely lots of fireworks. There was a little movement on the plot, not much, as we approach the final showdown with Kalin, Janie and Zane. At least know we know a little more about Zane. And the vampires and witches have a stronger understanding.

I didn't give this book a 5 because after all that build up about Breanne's power, other than saving Janie, I wasn't that impressed. I kind of expected her to cure world hunger, create world peace etc. She didn't even find the cure to the virus. So I felt let down a tad. Plus, Janie never got the witches book of prophecy and it seemed really important. so what's up with that?

The romance and "healing" both physically and emotionally was so nicely done though. So I was pleased. All the Kayrs men have put their markings on someone. Alright!!!!

I don't know who the next full novel will be on, but I can't wait. I suppose it has to be the Janet Kayrs show as she should be the age of prophecy.

Everyone should give this series a try!

A damaged vampire mates a dying witch in order to save her, and to restore the abilities he lost. He was sexy, charming flirt, but after 5 years of torture, he's now angry and vengeful (but still sexy). She's sweet, kind and brilliant and doesn't take his shit. Their romance is an emotional one, he has so many demons to fight  (literally), but she's with him all the way.

They go through a *lot* together, which turns the relationship of necessity into one of love. She heals him with her patience and tenderness, and he tries so hard to be better for her. And also, sheet-burning steam alert! 🥵 The external plot with the war is great, and there're doses of humor to balance the angst. And the brother/sisterhood remains one of the best part of these books.
