Book 4 in my journey to read all 101 Horror Books to Read Before You're Murdered by Sadie "Mother Horror" Hartmann.

What in the daddy issues–time jumpin–cave demon–crazy neighbor–apocalyptic–flesh worms did I just read??? Because it was a fckn wild ride and I'd like to get on again.

I honestly don't even know what to write because my mind is blown. So, I guess we can just sit here, staring at our screens, and self-reflect on our reading choices. * cries in KU * yeah, ok, let's not do that.

Anyways, this book is so stinkin smart–or I'm just dumb.  Either way, it's a great story.  Chuck Wendig touches on some pretty deep topics, respectfully, like generational trauma and child abuse but keeps the story moving and kinda funny.

The characters, and there are several, are soooooooo well developed; they were real people to me, still are...ok uhhh let's move on 👀  Whatever was happening in the cave with the skittering crab sounds (you'll know what I'm talking about when you read it) made me so uncomfortable, naturally I kept reading.

Please give this book a read so we can compare conspiracy boards :)

The Book of Accidents
Chuck Wendig
Out Now!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A little late, but I am so excited about this new release!! This was my first Chuck Wendig book, but it will definitely not be my last!

The Book of Accidents follows Nate, Maddie, and Oliver Graves, as they move back to Nate’s childhood home. Each member of the family has their own secret struggles that they are facing, and when strange things start happening, they must come together to overcome a powerful evil force that seeks to destroy not only their family, but possibly the whole world.

This book has been getting a lot of Stephen King comparisons, and while I think it certainly earns them in regard to its quality, there is a lot of originality to be found in this story. It is a little bit of horror, a little bit of sci-fi, a little bit of fantasy, and a whole lot of fun! This book had me wondering what the heck was going on, in the best way possible! I was very impressed by the execution of this novel, as well as the unpredictability of it. There is a lot to think about here.

I thought the writing was super accessible and engaging from start to finish. There are multiple perspectives, and they flow smoothly together. I also loved Wendig’s writing style, it felt unfiltered and natural. Like I said, I will definitely be picking up another of his books soon.

This book was really enjoyable, and I highly recommend it! I feel like it has been getting some buzz on bookstagram, but not as much as it deserves! I encourage you to give it a try if you like horror, scifi, or just good storytelling!

Thank you Netgalley, Chuck Wendig, and Del Rey Books for an early copy of this book! The Book of Accidents is available now.

WOW. WOW. I saw this book at the library and I just had to bring it with me! And I am glad I did. This wonderful book was more than I expected. I thought it was more in the way of spooky hauntings. Something going bump in the night. But it is more than that. It is dimensions, alternate versions of yourself, timelines, devils and demons, abuse and bad parenting, there is a ton happening and I was just bracing myself for what the author would throw me next.
Sometimes it was just a bit too disgusting for me, I am not that big on gore. Sometimes the abuse parts were too much. But the rest made up for it.
And yes, I got a headache as we neared the end because things are going to collapse, bump, clash.
I loved that we had multiple POVs.
I could talk on and on about this one, but I will keep it to this! Read it! Now! Go!

Wow. I don't even know where to begin. This book was WILD from start to finish! I had no idea where it was going to go! What starts as a seemingly typical "family moves into a new house for a fresh start" goes so wildly off course! And it was AMAZING!! I don't know how to describe it without giving away any spoilers. But I will say read this book. Absolutely one hundred percent read this book! If you like sci fi or fantasy or horror read it! The plot is wild, it's an interwoven coil of darkness but I never once felt lost in it. It kept a great atmosphere of tension, very chilling, and then it ramped up to 100%! I loved everything this book gave me! The family is so good. Its so refreshing to find a "haunted house" where no one is ignored or accused of being crazy. They've got each others backs. They love each other and that shows in their interactions, in their solitary thoughts, and in the choices they make. This was not only a really good horror story, but it was an emotional one too. I felt for this family, for their friends, I was rooting for them! I'm rambling now but I truly loved this book!
