This was a nice combination of an interesting life and an interesting concept - a fictional novel based on the author's grandmother. I think everyone who has memories of grandparents can think of some interesting stories, and to embellish those stories into a novel is really sweet. It was interesting to read this book only a few weeks after my last living grandparent passed away. I should have asked more about their pasts!

After enjoying Glass Castles, read this book and really enjoyed it. Great read that has differences and similarities with GC.

I had very few expectations when I started reading this book, and had not read any reviews. What I discovered was a book that fictionally retold the type of folk lore I love to hear. I immediately liked Lily, although the reviews I read after finishing the book told me she was not likable.

I was disappointed to see the story come to an end, as I truly enjoyed this very fast read.

I actually have never read "Glass Castle" which was so popular a couple years ago. I think I was never in the mood to read about this subject. However, this book talked to me because it was about Arizona and when things were hard. I enjoyed how this author writes and will now go read the "Glass Castle" because the characters are linked.
