I randomly picked this book of a shelf at the book fair in sixth grade. The best impulse decision I've ever made. This book sets the stage for the three books to follow and I could go back and reread this book any day.

I was surprised by how much I liked this book. I suspected it would be a tropey mess, but instead, I got great world-building, an interesting plot, compelling characters, and well-written slow-burn romance. It goes in a completely different direction than you would expect!
