Very sweet book! Itā€™s funny and spicy but also heartfelt. Loved the neurodivergent representation.

Lizzie and Rake are two broken individuals who have each been through their respective traumas and disappointments. Their journey through navigating the ups and downs of co-parenting while also overcoming their abandonment issues and learning how to have a relationship was so heartwarming and heartbreaking to read. Beautifully written, with plenty of spice.. what more could a person ask for?!

ā€œI want to hand over all my old memories because I only want new ones with you.ā€

Iā€™m not sure how but Mazey managed to write a book that is the definition of warm and fuzzy but also includes some pretty steamy face sitting less than 10% in, but Iā€™m here for it. I can only assume she is some kind of literary witch genius.

I loved this book! Lizzie is such a fun and complex character. I wish I could have read about her in my early twenties when I was navigating my own budding independence and dating scene.

And Rake? Iā€™m sure Rake must be every neurodirvergent girlā€™s wet dream. He is kind, understanding, and compassionate without pity. He thrives off of Lizzieā€™s energy and quirks and he quickly realizes that he is better to others and himself when he is with her. If you were to find yourself in their āœØsituationāœØ he is the dream man you would hope for.

To those who say that this story is ā€œnot believableā€ I say, if you can believe in entire fairy realms crawling with breathtakingly beautiful men and their impressive wing spans and dragon dudes with two dicks, I think you can give believe that a sexy Australian one night stand can also NOT run for the hills when you tell him youā€™re pregnant with his baby, no?

This book is an emotional and sexy escape. If you havenā€™t experienced Mazeyā€™s bright and fresh writing style, be sure to give this book a try!

Thank you to St. Martins Press, Mazey Eddings & NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. Lizzie Blakeā€™s Best Mistake is out Tuesday!

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for this ARC!

Lizzie is a woman who loves a good one night stand, works at a bakery, and has adult ADHD. Rake is an Australian man in town for work who just so happens to become Lizzie's one night stand, or so she thought. Lizzie left her keys at Rake's hotel room, so they have to see each other again (and neither are mad about it!) A few weeks later, Lizzie is throwing up, and on her last late warning for work. She later finds out that the reason she is so sick is because she is pregnant! How will she be bale to manage a kid when she struggles with taking her ADHD meds and staying on track? Lizzie tells Rake, and we hear their story unfold.

I am not a huge fan of books with steam, and this has some steam. Overall, it wasn't a lot so I was okay with it. If you enjoy the steamier scenes, it won't faze you! Lizzie and Rake's characters are great with more dynamic than you're expecting. Both come from their own experiences that still weigh heavily on them, making the book more enjoyable and less fluffy. (I did also appreciate the author's note at the beginning! I love that authors are labeling triggers/experiences that happen in the book before it even starts.)

I was also able to listen to this book and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the male narrator (that Australian accent!!) Overall, it was a good romance-y story!

Let me start by saying that pregnancy trope isn't my favorite, but I was really
interested in this book because it has a neurodivergent FMC. Specifically, Lizzie has ADHD. I was really interested to see how the author would handle it!

I think overall, it was executed very well. I found Lizzie very likable, very relatable. I found Rake's patience and genuine interest to be sweet. While the pregnancy was part of this story, I didn't find
myself overwhelmed by details about it. It was an underlying story, allowing the relationship and Lizzie's growth/acceptance to be the main focal point of the
book.

TW: topics of abortion, toxic family (emotional abuse), and ableism.
Also mention of vomiting...just in case that is a trigger for anyone.
Thank you @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for the opportunity to review this audiobook!

(free review copy) What a refreshing love story! Stellar ADHD rep, a curvy heroine, a guy who is THERE, and a fierce friend group. Oh and donā€™t forget the NSFW baked goods
