I loved everything about this book. The way it's written, the unique subject matter, the educational elements. Everything was delightful.

This is such an inspiring tale about two people who lost everything in their journey to find everything. The writing is not only beautiful, but the true life experiences are so incredibly Powerful. I really appreciated the way that the author weaved factual information about things such as historical locations, ecology, and homelessness in the UK into her story.

Raynor's writing is so raw and whimsical that it can feel like you are both in a dream and a nightmare all at once. She illustrates the complexities of emotions that their tragic situation brings and takes the reader with them on an extremely personal journey. The love and care between moth and Ray is clear from the start. You don't experience a lot of conversation between the two but if anything, this feels more powerful as they quite literally weather a life changing storm together.
Nature writing and descriptions of the coastal path with the characters they meet, tell a tale that you'd think was fiction - yet we all know these people when we walk. The book ultimately proves that you should never assume someone's situation or what one is enduring - life seems to be a lot of 'getting through' and Raynor and Moth prove that you can do it with lots of tea and biscuits, a lot of crying and laughing, and lastly - trust that everything will eventually be ok. Just keep turning the corner!

I tried to read this and couldn't get past how badly it was written (saw someone compare it to a secondary school english essay and I can't agree more). So I then turned to the audio book in a hopes to ignore the poor sentence structures and language choices, only to be hit with the realisation that the narrator of this book (not the audio one, just the main one in the book) is so elitist its unreal. There's a lot of woe me I can't believe we did this but then not properly preparing for the excursion? Also the weird continuous nod to homelessness in a superior way? Not sure I wanna read the rest thanks

Het boek begon met interessant: een ouder echtpaar dat alles verliest en om moet gaan met een ernstige ziekte gaat wandelen. En dat is dan ook de rest van het boek: wandelen, natgeregend worden, kou lijden, noedels, friet en chocoladerepen eten en repeat.

De rest van de pagina’s werd gevuld met ellenlange beschrijvingen van het stadje waar ze op dat moment waren (maar allemaal op elkaar leken). Af en toe mocht de man van de schrijfster ook wat zeggen. Had dat vaker gedaan, want hij kwam nog wel sympathiek over. Zij daarentegen…

when i go to rob’s house, i often get handed a book (lovely) and then get given the time & space to finish it within a day (even more lovely). this was this weekend’s offering, from his parents. i didn’t think i’d like this as much as i did! why did i like it? it’s different from my usual reads, it’s also kind of comforting and absorbing. knocked a star off because ray’s martyrishness got to me.
