I was correct. Her third book is my favourite. It is a lot more grounded than the first, and continues the more serious tone that the second one had. I didn't cry like in the second one, but there are several more chapters that I connected to, so it's overall similar if not better.

I loved this book. I listened to the audio book, read by the author, and she was fantastic. I laugh-cried so many times while driving to work. It was funny but also poignant and lovely.

I listened to this and wow does Jenny have a soothing voice. Almost too soothing...made me sleepy at times and felt like I was listening to one of my best friends go on and on...it's a great book about so many struggles that so many of us live w/ on a daily basis. I didn't love it but I am glad I listened to it.

When I started this book I thought “Woah! These sentences read like my frantic brain on errands day.” Perhaps that’s why the book often spoke to me in an all too familiar way. It is often wildly funny (and funnily wild!) In the reviews people talked about laughing to the point of concerning others. This seemed like well intentioned hyperbole…until I found myself hysterically laugh-crying on my couch to my husband and son’s utter bewilderment.

It is at times touchingly honest about anxiety and depression. Just when you think it will become too serious or sappy, Jenny throws in gems like “THERE ARE DICKS STUCK IN MY CAR HOLES AND EVERYONE at the POST OFFICE THINKS I BUY TINY DILDOS IN BULK.”

I say: read it! It is the stigma-erasing book about mental health we all need right now. Not to mention that if you don’t laugh aloud once while reading this book I’ll be shocked.

I rage read this.
I loved Lawson’s first two books many years ago, so I stuck this out to the end. But it was just chaotic rambling and forced/over-explained humour. Also a ton of “insights” that were…completely not insightful (or funny). I don’t understand how anyone finds this anything but annoying.

Y'all I want to like Jenny Lawson SO MUCH but I am finding her writing to be more forced and frenzied as time goes by. The hilariously relatable dork of the past seems to have morphed into this embellished caricature of awkwardness that is anything but a joy to read. On top of that, the printer must have been experiencing an issue with the toner, because the lack of saturation in the printing made this book VERY difficult to read indeed.
