This book was so good. Besides for the casual racism and antisemitism (yes I know it was written in a different time which it why I’m not taking off a star because I know it’s wrong and modern readers do too). I did not like Tom. Throughout the novel he just pissed me off. I wanted Daisy and Gatsby to get together in the end, but I kind of figured they wouldn’t. It was definitely a lot harder for a woman to leave her husband in this time so idk why people get so upset about it. I liked Nick as a narrator, I wish we had got to see a little more of his story and his life. I wanted him and Jordan to get together, but again I kind of figured they wouldn’t. The last few chapters were so upsetting and annoying, not the turn I was expecting or hoping for. I knew little to nothing about The Great Gatsby before reading it, and I’m glad. Usually I hate reading about careless rich people and their lavish carefree lives, but I just really enjoyed something about it in this book. For the longest time I’ve been obsessed with the roaring 20s and the party lifestyle I’ve always seen associated with it, so it’s probably that. This is one of the few classics I’ve read that I’ve actually enjoyed.
