A fun flirty romance with some SJ themes & non white protagonists -yay! Short & good.

I enjoyed this book as much as the first one but again it's too short and i need more of the character development and their relationship to grow more.
The writing is still good and their intimate moments are hot but their dynamic feels a bit off as in her insecurities and his dominance or overwhelming her at times.
Thanks for my review copy to the publisher, author and NetGalley.

Oh, this book was super cute. Magda and Ty were adorable. It was a sort of enemies to lovers thing but not really enemies... but they were on opposite sides of the issue of a community garden. I enjoyed the flow of the tale and the back story of both characters. It added to their appeal. The resolution was great and gave me the warm and fuzzies.

While this is the second book in the Uptown series this book is very much a standalone and can be read without reading the first book (which is exactly what I did!).
This was an extremely cute book and the chemistry between the two main characters is honestly what made this an enjoyable read. I love a good enemies to lovers trope, even if this a somewhat mild case of it. I respect Magda's hard work and dedication to her job and Ty's passion for the community garden.
It was an extremely quick read, one I found impossible to put down but found that there were a lot of questions left unanswered. I think I would have preferred the book to be longer just so that there were no loose ends.
Thank you to NetGalley and HARLEQUIN - Carina Press for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Sadly, this story fell a bit flat for me. I was looking for a cute, funny, and sweet romance; however, what I got was more like a women's fiction novella. Magda is drowning in debt, floundering with the direction of her life, and currently trying to sale her uncle's "historical" brownstone. While dealing with the push back from her uncle to sale; Magda's employer assigns her another lot to sell in the area. Magda visits this lot to find that the community has cleaned up the lot and started a community garden. Ty is a CPA that is bored with his life but enjoys helping the community garden and has become the face of the garden. When Magda and Ty meet the ladies of the garden they attempt to play matchmakers with these two. Although there is a romance between Magda and Ty I never really felt the chemistry and I also think that Magda and Ty's personal issues overshadowed the romance. I did like all the "walk-through" feel of a New York City's historic residential area that was provided.

This is a Netgalley review. All opinions are solely my own.
Ruby Lang wrote a book that reads like I’m watching a movie. And it’s a movie I would watch. Magda and Ty are flawed characters that seem to be working against each other. Magda’s family are very realistic. Ty’s sister is super sweet.
I recommend this book that is movie worthy with a little bit of heat.

3.5 - 4 stars, I can't decide.
What with the cutesy cover and what I knew from Book 1, I didn't expect this book to be so...angsty. I really love Ty and Magda together, although Magda's family really did give me high blood pressure (I felt like strangling the lot of them). Love the whole community garden led by old ladies.
