Can be pretty repetitive all thrown together like this, but its a beautifully put together collection and it can so so funny in newer within that repetition. Popeye is so characterized right off the bat and only continues to grow as he has his adventures with good ol' Olive Oyl.

This book gets weird and wacky, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The plots of many of the comics gets a little repetitive, as Popeye finds himself in many a boxing match, but he's also slugging horses and the police and talking about how he's a sensitive guy and no one understands him. You can see the progression, as Popeye must have started to get popular with children. Suddenly kids in the comics think Popeye is cool, too!

Good stuff, and a nice archive of stories past.
