I'm surprised I didn't read this earlier or I was not required to in school. I absolutely loved this read, I haven't read Lois Lowry since middle school, but now I think I'd like to return to her books. Her world building and descriptions are perfect for a dystopian story. This was an easy read while still being meaningful and thought provoking.

The audiobook on Libby was only 5 hours, so this was a great weekend/day ready. Highly recommend to everyone.

this book will always make me reflect on how it is a gift to be able to feel love and happiness and how as humans we are lucky to have so much diversity to celebrate.

This is just a really powerful and beautifully written story.

It’s a hard book to read, but it is—quite possibly—one of the most important.

This was really easy to read fast, so it definitely kept my attention but it doesn’t seem like the kind of book i would be thinking about for a long time. It was an
interesting concept, but not written well enough to feel completely thrown into this utopian world and needing to know what happens next. Also talk about an unsatisfactory ending!
I’m glad it seems to have ended well for Gabe and Jonas but UGH endings written like this are my biggest pet peeve.

They were satisfied with their lives which had none of the vibrance his own was taking on. And he was angry at himself, that he could not change that for them.
