This book was pretty solid. I loved Anastasia and Nathan as a couple. I also really appreciated how careful Nathan was to make sure Anastasia really wanted to be with him. I wish I could pinpoint why this isn't a 5 star read for me, but in general I think there were a lot of secondhand cringe moments that I really struggled with. Overall though, I don't doubt that I'll eventually re-read this.

So fun

Someone asked me on the bus if I was reading ice breaker and she was so giddy, gushing about how much she liked the book.

Not a slow burn!

Brief Summary: I'm in the Henry fan club, and I'm not down with binge drinking.
 . . . . .
Could have done without that particular ending. Also, I'm not a fan of the binge drinking/alcoholism and excessive swearing in this story. Maybe I just don't like college romance books? I would have liked to read more about the connections that developed between the various characters when they weren't drunk.

Plenty of spice. Seriously, it was a lot.

Maple Hills had almost cozy vibes . . . but only if the character had a trust fund or was connected to someone with money. We weren't privy to the "other side" of Maple Hills.

There were so many characters that were introduced but not developed so I tripped on a few characters that I didn't recognize sprinkled throughout the story. As far as characters go, Henry was the most likeable. I'd read another Maple Hills book if he was the main character. (hint hint)

I’m between a 3.5 and 3.75 but I’m going to the higher end actually changed my mind while writing the review.

The spicy scenes are definitely spice.

The book though is a bit too long and dragged at the end yet also the ending felt very rushed.

I wish there was more character development with the evil friend I am totally blanking on his name. Like he just seemed pure bad and I didn’t really feel for his character even when Stas was saying he was good. He fell flat for me. Actually all the characters fell a little flat I think I’m going to drop by rating down to 3.5. All the characters seemed all good or all bad there wasn’t really an in between. Or at least any discussion of an in between, like Nathan was very controlling at points.

If you like spice the book is good for that, nice quick read. Will probably read this author again. Not a top romance author like Emily Henry but still enjoyable to read.

The amount of nicknames and duo pov makes it hard to follow sometimes. Especially if you did not read the book for a few days. Sex scene was ok. Not as graphic as what I thought with all the TikTok hype.

Parts of the story made me so angry though. Definitely check your triggers. It’s not that graphic when it comes to triggers, but would be nice to know. TikTok didn’t say anything about those…

I knew I was going to like this book but I did not expect to fall in love with it! And I did not expect it to be as complex and emotional as it was. Being a tik tok rec I assumed it was going to be a very surface level read. But this books held depth and nuance I wasn’t expecting. It is a perfect example of bringing the values of today to a book in a seamless, and non-gimmicky way. I loved that these characters were diverse in such a real and natural way. I loved the commitment to consent even when in a relationship. Which is so important to reinforce and introduce to readers of all ages. And I absolutely loved that these characters talked. When things felt weird, they talked. When they were upset with something or each other, they talked. So refreshing to read. The second half of this book is a bit heavier and less spicy. Not really a criticism but I think I wanted those reprieves in the more intense/emotional parts of the back half. A truely magnetic book with so much love.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. I can't put into words how much I love this book, the characters, the plot... everything! Absolute perfection!! <3
