This is one of those 5 star books that makes me question every book I rated 4 stars in the past.

Going into this book i knew how it ended, however it did not stop me from weeping most of the time. Beautifully written, I have nothing bad to say about this book

Very beautifully written, very powerful language. We all know how the story of Patroclus and Achilles ends but this book is not about what happens, it's about how it happens and the way it is described is beautiful. The characters have depth and their development is crafted well.
The book will rip your heart out and you will love every second of it. To quote Jackedwards "I would invent a sixth star solely for this book".
Can't wait to read "Circe" (cause Im dumb and STILL haven't read it)

When he died, all things swift and beautiful and bright will be buried with him.

God, this book. I don't say this often, but I believe I have found one of my new all-time favourite books. I started reading this together with one of my closest friends. We share a lot of opinions, interests and etc, so it didn't need much convincing from her for me to read this book.
It has been some time since I finished it and I am still not sure whether to just love it or to feel that tiny bit of hate, just because of what it did to me. I love Greek mythology so this was an easy starter for me, but even if you are not as interested in mythology, you are gonna be perfectly able to understand everything.
The characters are great, I love Patroculs and Achilles and I love the way they developed through the entire book. I never wanted to put the story down and I've read the pages so fast, I still cant't believe I was able to resist finishing it in one go.

If you can: read it. You will not be disappointed.

Novelization of myth that simultaneously humanizes the characters for the modern reader and stays true to the myth elements which lend an epic weight to the story. You largely know where it is going, but the path to get there makes the ending that much more of a punch. Come for the romance, stay for the breaking of all things at the whims of gods.
