In general it was a cute, enjoyable and easy read. Multiple raving reviews gave me high expectations (which is never a good way to start a book imo) which kind of set me up for disappointment.

The first 2/3rds of the book I wasn’t a massive fan of Montys’ - so much so I deliberated not finishing the book. But I ploughed on and was pleased when he did present with some character development, however the other main characters did carry the story.

The plotline was good (very fantasy-esque), kept me invested and was quite funny at times. Sometimes it did feel like the author just wanted to add another topical issue into the story though. I’m aware its YA but none of the topics (lgbtq+, racism, epilepcy, dometic abuse, sexism etc) is ever deeply discussed or explored, but merely grazed upon and ‘on to the next one’.

I'd probably give it 4.5 if I could but I'm tipping toward 5.

This wasn't nearly as good as I had expected it to be, it felt like nothing was happening but at the same time there was so much going on, I will however say that Monty, Percy and Felicity are such amazing characters with flaws they get to overcome during the tour, but Felicity is definitely my favorite I aspire to be just as magnificent as her when I grow up.

It’s was honestly a fun easy read and I especially got into the “pirate” part. Loved Percy so much he is too good! Monty was a bit annoying but that was part of his character growth.

One of the best this year

An amazing book. Love that Monty who wouldn’t be complete without Percy and all the trouble they get into. A great adventure a diva great live story.
